Privacy Policy

This page explains how Velveta handles information within the iOS application and related services available through majestic.velvetawire.life. Velveta is designed to help users organize gift recipients, track meaningful dates, manage budgets, and receive AI-assisted gift suggestions. Because those features may involve personal planning details, the sections below outline what may be gathered, why it is needed, and the choices available to users.

1. Data Collection

Information received through Velveta generally falls into a few categories. First, users may provide account-related details such as a name, email address, or other information entered during sign-up, support requests, or profile setup. Second, the app may store content created within the experience, including recipient names, occasion reminders, gift notes, spending targets, budget entries, and prompts submitted for AI-generated gift ideas.

Certain technical details may also be gathered automatically when the app is used. These can include device type, operating system version, app version, general diagnostics, crash reports, session activity, and broad usage patterns. This helps with reliability, fraud prevention, product improvement, and troubleshooting.

Velveta may rely on third-party software development kits or service integrations for hosting, analytics, app functionality, customer support, content processing, or security monitoring. Those tools may receive limited technical information necessary for them to perform their role.

If a feature ever requests access to device permissions such as photos, contacts, notifications, or location, that access is used only when the feature requires it and only after permission is granted through the iOS permission prompt. At present, users should assume that only the permissions reasonably connected to app functionality are requested, and unnecessary access is not intentionally sought.

2. Data Usage

The information handled by Velveta is used to operate the app as expected. That includes creating and maintaining user accounts, saving gift-planning records, generating personalized suggestions, syncing or restoring data where supported, responding to messages sent to support, and keeping the service stable.

Usage data and diagnostics may be utilized to understand which features are helpful, where errors occur, and how the app experience can be improved over time. Information may also be processed to detect misuse, enforce terms, and reduce security risks.

Velveta does not sell personal information. If promotional communication or product announcements are sent, they will be limited to appropriate business purposes and may include the ability to opt out where required by law. Data may be shared with service providers that help operate the app, but only to the extent reasonably necessary for hosting, processing, support, analytics, or protection of the service.

3. Data Storage & Security

App data may be stored on secure servers, cloud infrastructure, or protected databases used to support Velveta's features and account systems. Some information may also remain locally on a user's device depending on how a feature is designed.

Security measures are intended to reduce unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of information. These measures may include encryption in transit, access controls, authentication safeguards, limited personnel access, logging, and routine monitoring. Even so, no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.

Retention periods depend on the type of information involved, the reason it was gathered, legal obligations, dispute resolution needs, and operational requirements. In general, data is kept for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve issues, or maintain business records. When information is no longer needed, it may be deleted, anonymized, or securely archived as appropriate.

4. Third-Party Services

Velveta may work with outside providers to support hosting, analytics, customer communication, security functions, AI-related processing, payment-related workflows if introduced, and other operational needs. Those providers may handle information on behalf of Velveta under their own contractual and legal responsibilities.

External services may also maintain their own privacy practices when data is processed through their systems. For that reason, some information shared with those providers may be governed in part by the policies and safeguards of the provider involved. Velveta seeks to use providers that are appropriate for the nature of the service and the categories of information involved.

5. User Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where a user lives, privacy laws may provide specific rights regarding personal information. These may include the right to request access to data, ask for corrections, request deletion, receive a copy of certain information, limit particular uses, or object to some forms of processing.

Users covered by applicable law may also have the right to opt out of certain data handling practices, including some forms of marketing communication or disclosures that qualify under local law. California residents may have rights related to knowing what categories of personal information are handled, requesting deletion, and exercising non-discrimination protections. Individuals in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions may have GDPR-based rights such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.

To exercise these rights, send a request to support@velveta.com. Verification may be required before a request is completed, particularly when sensitive account information is involved. If a request is denied in whole or in part, the response may explain the reason when required by law.

6. Children's Privacy

Velveta is intended only for adults. The app is not directed to children under 18, and it is not designed for use by minors. Personal information from children under 13 is not knowingly gathered, which is intended to align with applicable child privacy rules, including COPPA.

If it becomes known that information from a child or minor was submitted without appropriate authorization, reasonable steps may be taken to remove that information from active systems. Parents or guardians who believe a minor has provided data through Velveta may contact support@velveta.com.

7. Policy Updates

This policy may change from time to time as Velveta evolves, legal requirements shift, or operational practices are refined. Revised language may appear on this page at any time, and the effective date shown above will reflect the current version.

When updates are significant, notice may be provided through the app, on the website, by email where appropriate, or by another reasonable method. Continued use of the app after a revised policy takes effect means the updated version will apply to future use of the service, subject to any rights available under law.
